Following todays UPDATE UKA & HCAFS STATEMENT, the Mid Sussex Marathon 2020 is now postponed and will no longer take place on 23rd to 25th May 2020.
We are in the process of dealing with all the logistical difficulties this brings, such as checking venue availability and will try to reach a decision on a new date as soon as possible. Our aim is to hold the event later in 2020.
If you have already entered , we will contact you directly with details of your options once these are confirmed. Please bear with us in the meantime and keep checking back for updates.
Following a recent announcement , the early May Bank Holiday date will be moved to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day, therefore we have decided to move the date of the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend 2020 to the late bank holiday weekend in May.
We can confirm the event will now take place on the following dates;
Saturday 23rd May 2020: East Grinstead 10 Mile
Sunday 24th May 2020: Haywards Heath 10 Mile
Monday 25th May 2020: Burgess Hill 10K
The Mid Sussex Family Fun Run and Junior Mile Races will also take place on each day of the event.
Thank you to everyone who completed our poll asking you what colour T-shirt you wanted this year. We hope you like it. Fancy one? Just sign up to the Mid Sussex Marathon today and we’ll be there to present one to you at the finish line!
If running is not your thing, we still need volunteers to help out at each event, so why not become a volunteer and you’ll go home with one of these fab T-Shirts!
In addition to the Marathon series, a fun run and one mile race will take place on each day of the event. Offering something for families, children and adults the event presents a perfect fund raising opportunity for causes close to your heart.
“There are a number of reasons why I volunteer. Volunteering can help gain confidence by giving you the chance to try something new and build a real sense of achievement. What you do also has a real and valuable positive affect on people, communities and society in general so you feel like you make a difference. Through volunteering I have met many different kinds of people and made a number of friends. It helps me to feel part of a community, something outside of friends and family.
All volunteering opportunities have allowed me to learn new skills and gain experience, sometimes there are even opportunities to gain new qualifications. I have found that through volunteering you can challenge yourself to try something different, achieve personal goals, practice using your skills and discover hidden talents. But most importantly you have fun! Most volunteers have a great time, regardless of why they do it.”
“To anyone with spare time on their hands, I would suggest volunteering. It is a wonderful hobby in itself; you choose your hours, days and the type of thing that interests you – did you ever get that in work? Now is your opportunity, give yourself a new lease of life and try having a go at all these different jobs – you will, hopefully, be rewarded with thanks, smiles, a feel good factor, a healthy and improved mind set and who knows what else?” Why not give it a go?
Barbara Lank, Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend Volunteer
Finally, we have to say an extra special thank you to the lovely Samantha Day from Meridian FM & Burgess Hill Radio, who kept everyone entertained through the event. For cheering and encouraging the runners, keeping everyone informed and for all the fun, we thank you.
